A Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE) is a state-licensed home that provides housing, supervision, meals, personal care, and assistance with activities of daily living for older adults in a nonmedical, residential setting.

Unlike a skilled nursing facility, an RCFE feels like a real home, not a hospital. Residents are supported by trained caregivers in a warm, familiar environment while retaining as much independence as possible. Our RCFE license application is currently under review with the California Department of Social Services.

Our boutique home is thoughtfully designed to serve a maximum of six residents. This small household model is intentional. It allows our care team to genuinely know each person's routines, preferences, personality, and changing needs, rather than managing a large number of residents from a distance.

Six residents means personalized attention is always possible.

Compassionate Care Senior Living LLC is a family-owned and operated residential care home led by Alexandra Kogan, Managing Member and RCFE Administrator, with the involvement and support of the Kogan family.

This is not a corporate franchise or chain community. It is a family's personal commitment to creating a beautiful, dependable home where seniors age with dignity and families find genuine peace of mind.

Our residence is located at 4744 Monument Drive, Sacramento, California 95842. We welcome inquiries from families throughout the greater Sacramento region, including Citrus Heights, Antelope, North Highlands, Carmichael, Fair Oaks, Orangevale, Roseville, Rancho Cordova, Folsom, Elk Grove, and the broader Northern California area. 4744 Monument Drive, Sacramento, CA 95842

In a large assisted living community, a resident may live among dozens or even hundreds of others, with rotating staff who may not remember their name or preferences.

In our boutique six-resident home, every caregiver knows each resident personally. The environment feels like a family home, not a facility. Meals are cooked fresh, activities are tailored to real interests, and communication with families is open and ongoing.

Our RCFE license application has been submitted to the California Department of Social Services. We are not yet licensed, accepting residents, or authorized to provide care.

Care & Services

How We Care for
Your Loved One

Every service we provide is rooted in dignity, respect, and genuine compassion — tailored to each individual's needs and preferences.

Our caregivers assist with all activities of daily living based on each resident's individualized care plan. This includes bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, continence care, eating assistance, personal hygiene, transferring, walking, and mobility support. Every form of assistance is provided with dignity, patience, and respect for the resident's privacy and personal preferences.

Yes. Trained staff assist residents with medications in accordance with each resident's physician instructions, California state regulations, and their individualized care plan. Medication assistance is a core part of our daily care routine, and we coordinate with pharmacies and physicians to ensure accuracy and safety at all times.

We plan to provide person-centered dementia and memory support in accordance with our approved licensing conditions, staff training, and our assessment of each individual's needs. Our approach includes structured daily routines, memory-focused activities, gentle redirection, reassurance, behavioral observation, wandering-risk prevention, and ongoing family communication. Each resident's suitability is determined through a thorough pre-admission assessment.

Yes. When appropriate and when applicable licensing requirements are met, residents may remain in the comfort of our home while receiving services from an outside licensed hospice provider. Our care team coordinates fully with hospice professionals and families to support comfort, dignity, and continuity of care. Aging in place, surrounded by familiar surroundings and people who know you, is something we deeply value and support.

Yes. Three nutritious home-cooked meals are included each day, along with snacks and beverages. Because our setting is residential rather than institutional, meals are prepared fresh and feel like home cooking. We make reasonable efforts to accommodate documented dietary needs, physician instructions, food allergies, cultural food preferences, and personal tastes. Dining is an important part of daily life here, and we take it seriously.

Activities are designed to nourish purpose, joy, and meaningful connection — and are tailored to each resident's interests and abilities. Options may include arts and crafts, music, movies, board games, gentle exercise, gardening, outdoor walks, reading, reminiscing, seasonal celebrations, memory activities, and one-on-one companionship. We believe that a fulfilling daily life is just as important as physical safety and personal care.

Admissions & Accommodations

Is Our Home the Right Fit?

Every family's situation is different. Here we answer the most common questions about who is a good fit for our home, how admissions work, and what to expect during the process.

Our home is designed for seniors, generally 65 and older, who need assistance with personal care, medications, meals, mobility, supervision, or daily routines but do not require continuous skilled nursing care. We are a particularly strong fit for:
  • Seniors who prefer a small, intimate, non-institutional environment
  • Individuals experiencing memory loss, dementia, or Alzheimer's disease whose needs can be safely managed in our setting
  • Residents receiving hospice services who wish to age in place
  • Families who value open communication, family involvement, and personalized care
Every prospective resident must complete a pre-admission assessment to confirm their needs can be safely and appropriately met.
Yes. Both private and companion accommodations may be available depending on current occupancy. Private rooms offer full personal space and privacy. Companion rooms are carefully matched by routines, personalities, care needs, and living styles to ensure compatibility and comfort. Placement is based on availability, individual preferences, and assessed needs. We encourage families to inquire about current availability during their consultation.
Care level is determined through a thorough pre-admission appraisal that assesses a prospective resident's physical abilities, cognitive functioning, behavioral needs, and personal care requirements. Care level is based entirely on assessed need, not room type. The resulting individualized care plan is reviewed and updated as the resident's needs change over time, ensuring care remains appropriate and responsive.
Couples may be considered on a case-by-case basis, subject to room availability, individual assessments for each person, compatibility, and our ability to safely meet both residents' needs. We understand how important it is for couples to remain together, and we approach each situation thoughtfully. We encourage couples and their families to contact us to discuss their specific circumstances.
Yes, and we strongly encourage it. Approved personal items such as photos, familiar furniture, decorations, bedding, and meaningful belongings help make a room feel genuinely personal and comfortable. Items must fit safely within the room and comply with fire safety and licensing requirements. Our team will work with families during the move-in process to make the space feel as familiar and homey as possible.
Admission typically requires a pre-admission appraisal and a set of standard documents. These generally include:
  • Physician's report and current medication list
  • Medical history and relevant health records
  • Emergency contact information and responsible party designation
  • Identification documents
  • Financial agreements and admission paperwork
We guide families through every step of the process and are happy to answer questions along the way.
